Sephora Colorplay 5 in 1 Palette Shopping in Milan 3/5

And here we have the third part of the Sephora Colorplay palettes, this one being named Shopping in Milan, which I have never done myself, but I am assured that it is really cool by a friend.


For some reason, the quality of the picture is appalling which is bugging me cause it did NOT look like that on Photoshop.



So here we have mainly purples and pinks with...two browns and a green, which are quite random.




The lipglosses match two of the eyeshadows nearly EXACTLY, which I suppose isn't bad, but I'd usually expect it to be a colour that might be different yet still compliment the eyes and then there's the blush, which is a pink-peachy tone.




Sooooo, these are all again quite pigmented EXCEPT the light pinks, which took several attempts to even show up on the swatch! I think this palette is probably the poorest in terms of quality, but then again, that magnificent green makes up for it.




The blush and glosses are quite pigmented as well, which is good. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether the colour of the blush will suit me, which I need to try out at one point.




What I think I'll do next is write the post for the next one and schedule it for midweek, okay?

Sephora Colorplay 5 in 1 Palette Coffee in New York 2/5

And here we go on to part two, Coffee in New York!



Now this is more a neutral look which is perfect for those of you with blue eyes if you want to make your eyes pop!


So again a mix of shimmery, glittery and matte shades. Again this palette also has a nude highlight colour, which I think only this and the Dinner in Paris one have.


As for the lipglosses and blush, you have a dark brown, orange and a peachy blush(wow I am just so literate!).


Here you can see how wonderfully pigmented the shimmery shades are! The mattes are ok, not too troublesome (I think those are the lighter shades) and yet again, I spy a glitter.


Now these lipglosses are lovely although the orange is a lot sheerer on the lips, so it's not quite as daunting. The blush has improved as well, it's way more subtle than the first one and a lot more wearable.




As you can see, the swatches were a bit lopsided, which I tend to do often, sorry!

Sephora Colorplay 5 in 1 Palette Dinner in Paris 1/5

I have decided I'm going to break this up in 5 parts as it would be very image heavy otherwise.

First of all, this is dedicated to Steph because she asked about this in a previous post of mine a couple of weeks ago and I promised I'd put up a review pronto as I already had the pictures, but I never got round to it, so here it finally is. I also took new pictures cause the old ones weren't incredible and I've been trying to improve my photography thanks to Makeup Savvy's amazing guide.

SO, the elusive Sephora Colorplay palette that I've talked about a few times. Now I bought this because if you had a Sephora Black card, you would get it for €29.95 instead of €39.95 and I had to snap it up.


The packaging is quite pretty, sort of thick and obviously not possible to carry around in your bag, but it has a travel case so you can pop one of the five smaller palettes into it and take in your bag, which is sort of the point of the whole palette.



Now in the palette you have 5 blushes, 10 lipglosses and a whopping 50 eyeshadows! So I guess that could justify the price a little, but then again it depends on the quality of everything.

I'm gonna review this with each little palette individually from left to right, starting with the black/greys called Dinner in Paris.



Obviously this palette is meant for the classic smokey eye and red lip that everybody loves. You have some glittery blacks, mattes, highlights and I believe there might even be a taupe colour? I'm not sure if it is as I'm not the best at telling colours apart.

Now for the swatches...


So here we have the eyeshadows swatched (over UDPP of course). In terms of pigmentation they're not bad, the shimmery ones are better than the mattes, which were a little more troublesome to swatch, but I believe all mattes are like that. There are a few glittery colours, which I'm not mad on but that means there's something for everyone.



As for the lipglosses, the red isn't as bold as I hoped, I've tried building it up but that didn't work very well. The see through gloss has a bit of glitter in it, again, I'm not keen on glitter on lips, so I might boycott that one a little. The blush is matte and WOW you have to be light handed with this! Be very careful in applying it because one stroke could have you redder than you wanted.

When it's time to say goodbye to a mascara

It honestly seems like I spend every third post apologising for my absense. Well, here goes again, a HUUUUUGEE sorry for the neglect during the week, I think this year it's gonna be weekend only posts as this year I need to up my game concerning school work.

Moving on, my first mascara ever was the Rimmel Extra Super Lash, which I've since then had for about three years, I think. I find it gives me a very natural look and does lift up my lashes a bit which made me quite pleased.



Now, the other day I was trying it out when I noticed it had a bit too much mascara on the brush so I wiped it against the lid and then this happened....



Ok...you can't see what's happened, but basically the brush has molded with the mascara so that the bristles have completely flattened. Now, I have the same mascara in brown as well so here's a pic to compare the two.


So the flattened one is on the left and here you can see quite the difference to what it SHOULD look like. All in all, this mascara has worked very well up until recently so I guess it really depends on how long you can carry on using the same mascara, because this was fine WAY after 12 months or how long we're supposed to keep them.

Dupe Alert! Urban Decay Aquarius vs Miss Sporty Lasting Colour in Hypnotic Turquoise

Ladies, I have foudn my first dupe! And boy am I proud haha!

So today I was debating what colour I was going to paint my nails when my eyes fell upon Urban Decay's Aquarius from their Summer Of Love collection. And then I noticed the Miss Sporty Lasting Colour in Hypnotic Turquoise, which looked pretty similar.


See, there is a certain similarity, so I decided to test it out to see if I had stumbled upon a dupe.

Ok, so at one coat Miss Sporty is slightly greener than Urban Decay but after a few coats...

Every alternative nail is Urban Decay, starting from the thumb and as you can see, after two-three coats, they're practically identical.

But what do you save in terms of price?

Well, if you wanted to be really iffy, you could divide the Urban Decay Summer of Love set at £17.50 by 7 and get £2.50 out of it. Miss Sporty retails at £1.99, so you'd save 51p. BUT as you can't buy the nail varnishes individually, you'd save around 15 quid, if you just wanted this shade. But of course, if you want all of them, then by all means, get the set (despite it well...being autumn.)

FOTDs and OOTD from this week

So this first FOTD from yesterday will be absolutely disgraceful, I apologise in advance.



A bare face with only mascara. I woke up yesterday and thought 'I cannot be arsed to wear a lot of makeup today' so I just grabbed the brown mascara lying on my desk. No eyeshadow. No under-eye concealer, crazy I know. But oh well, nobody ran away screaming so I guess I didn't look that awful.


So here's my makeup for thursday. Haha if you look closely, the right of bottom lip has a little cut cause I've been subconsciously gnawing on it, oops!

Otherwise, it's pretty simple. I think I used a light eyeshadow and eyeliner and then I tried my mum's mascara and used loooooads of layers so my lashes look rather clumpy.


And here we have my famous Doc Martens, I <3 them. The skirt and top are from New Look :)

New York Color Metro Quartet in South Street Seaport

First of all BIG apologies for my absence again. School is making me busier than ever and it's only going to escalate next week as I'm joining a couple of clubs and I'm doing babysitting, so I guess I'll only be able to post at weekends :(

And next, YAY more followers :) Thank you all so much, my giveaway is overdue but I need to earn some money before I can buy the stuff, but rest assured by next Saturday I should have the goodies!

Anyway, on to my life in general, this week I've been spending more time on my appearance for school, if you want you can guess why...;) so today I decided to review one of my smaller palettes that I really don't use enough.

New York Color...ah I feel a bit of a connection with this brand as back in April I got a free makeover in Superdrug and went and bought nearly all the products they used on me.


Ignore the awkwardly overplucked eyebrow, that bothered me for ages. I felt really happy when I had that makeover cause the MUA said I had a 'flawless complexion' and compliments just make me happy :)

One of said products is their Metro Quartet in South Street Seaport, which is a very neutral look ideal for blue eyes (that being said, it's not limited to that colour!)



It's diddy, this is so it'll fit perfectly in your handbag if you're worrying you might need to touch up your eyeshadow.



Very handy with this are the instructions so that if (like me) you forget from time to time where what goes, this'll help.




As for the product itself, in terms of quality, you definitely need a good primer with this stuff. The two browns above were heavily swatched over UDPP and are still a bit iffy, so primer's a must. Otherwise, the colour pay-off is quite nice, although I must admit I'm not going to put the pinky colour all over my lid.

So I tried to recreate the look that the makeup artist did on me, but I didn't quite get it, so I just followed the instructions on the palette.


(I'm using my smaller camera and I must admit, it's a lot better for close ups!) A side note, my eyebrow pencil's faded a bit since I applied it so my eyebrows look a bit odd. And as for my lashes, I'm very pleased with how they look here.

I also used my N.Y.C. liquid eyeliner and it was a little messy, but I'm pleased with the flick.



So there you have it, I actually managed to get a nice look with this palette, not like the last time I tried using it. I'm not sure of the price anymore, but it was cheap so if you like the look of it, go ahead and get it as it is worth it with primer :)
