One Day fotd

Hiya everyone!

Today, my best friend and I went to the cinema to go see One Day. I loved the movie, but a word of advice :if you someone who very easily cries at movies, be prepared for this. I was still sniffing when the credits rolled! I just have too many feelings, I reckon.

Anyway, true to my promise in my Sleek Saturday post, I decided to try pink and gold out together.

I was getting quite hacked off at how you can't actually see my eye makeup when I'm looking at the camera! It made all the normal shots look bad and got me quite annoyed; I think I need to experiment a bit more with my eye makeup technique!

See?! You can only see my eye makeup when I'm looking down. Anyway, on to the actual products. For my eyemakeup, I used Pink Punch from the Sleek Good Girl Palette and my trusty gold, Half Baked by Urban Decay. For eyeliner, I didn't go with Maybelline (for once!) and instead used Shadowline by Frontcover and the black from the Sleek Sunset palette. As for Mascara, I used a sample of the new Clarins mascara that you get redeemed by showing this card you get in September's Glamour (if that's not a reason to get it, you also get a free makeover!) and Clinique High Impact.

My face routine is the same as usual with Benefit Boo-ing concealer and the Collection 2000 one. My blush is L'Oreal True Match in Rosewood, I think. And I used Sleek Pout Paints in Milkshake and Pinkini for my lips.

I love this combination and will be using it more often, perhaps with other shades from the Good Girl palette. I'm really glad I did Sleek Saturday because it's helped me use my Good Girl palette more instead of leaving it abandoned. Now to do the same with the rest of my palettes!

What do you girls think of this look? And does anyone else have that problem with typical fotd poses not showing your eye makeup? xx

Sleek Pout Paints - Mixing Them Up

Hiya everyone, it's me again! I'm on a roll today, aren't I? Anyway, here are the combinations as promised.

For this first combination, I used Pinkini and Lava with a bit of Cloud 9 to make it a little lighter. I love the result, this is one of those colours where they don't have enough lippies in this shade. Perhaps MAC do though, I think the closest could be Impassioned, but I'm not entirely sure about that. Anyway, I just love the colour!

With this one, I started with Pin Up, Peek-A-Bloo and Milkshake. The second picture shows the result of that and it was far too brown for my liking. I then added Pinkini and some more Peek-A-Blue. The result ws a very dark purple.

BUT I didn't feel that this colour suited me so I added some Cloud 9...perhaps a bit too much as it ended up a bit too light. Oh well.

The light purple isn't bad but I felt it was too cool for me so I decided to change it again.

I ended up adding a bit of my first combination to the purple and I'm quite pleased with the result. It's another one of those lovely colours that's difficult to find.

Finally, here are some photos of when I've worn the Pout Paints. They're not great, so watch this space for proper FOTDs.

Here I'm wearing the mix of Pinkini and Lava that I tried in Superdrug. It has faded a bit as I'd eaten and had a drink before this picture.

A VERY sloppily applied Pin Up. I didn't have a lip brush, that's why it looks so messy.

And finally, Milkshake. It looks very faint here but it was a lot lighter in reality, hence why I'm not sure of it!

I'll be heading off to bed now. Night night!!xxx

Sleek Pout Paints

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard about Sleek's Pout Paints, also dubbed OCC Lip Tar dupes (although I can't actually confirm that myself, not actually owning any Lip Tars).

Of course, I believe these will be more available to everyone, considering they're cheaper at £4.99 and also distributed in Superdrug, whereas the Lip Tars you can only get online in the UK, I think (not 100% sure about this though).

What makes it even better is that Superdrug are currently selling these 3 for 2 so if you fancy stocking up on colours, now's the time to do it.

Being that I don't live in the UK, I'm considerably late with posting about these as I only just got my hands on them last week when I went over.

I bought six shades, taking well advantage of the offer in Superdrug. Originally I was only buying three but as I hadn't been very success with shopping that day I returned to Superdrug and bought another three (thanks to Dani egging me on...so she could get some of the pout paints by buying little jars and putting a bit of each colour in them...sisters!) and I have to admit, I am quite glad that I did buy the extra three as they're incredible!

First up we have Pin Up (the red) and Milkshake (the pinky peachy one? Kinda hard to describe). I think that amongst all the colours, Milkshake has been the most popular. There weren't many left in the Superdrug and I've seen a lot of blog posts about them.

I also think the consistency of Milkshake is a tiny bit runnier than the others although it's still pretty opaque on the lips. As for the colour itself...I like it but I think on me, it looks best when it's very lightly applied. I've not made my mind up about whether I love it or not, I think I need to wear it a few more times before I can give my final verdict!

As for Pin Up, I love it. I don't have any classic reds so this is great for me and I think the shade is just right as well.

Next up is is Pinkini (hot pink) and Lava (orange). I am a sucker for hot pinks so Pinkini is a winner for me. It's my favourite bright pink (sorry Barry M Vibrant Pink - you're too blue toned for me!) and I know this is one I'll probably reach for a lot.

Lava is a bright orange, the brightest I have. I like how it's not all corally orange as this means it's a bit more adventurous and bold.

Again these two are very opaque, pretty much like all the shades I have and they stay quite long without fading. I actually mixed these when I tried them in Superdrug and the shade didn't budge much which was great.

Another thing about these is that if you combine them, you get a beautiful colour, possibly a bit like MAC Impassioned, I think.

And finally, we have Peek-A-Bloo (the blue, obviously) and Cloud 9. There's not much to say about these, as I'm not really gonna wear them on their own, unless it were fancy dress or something. For mixing purposes though, they're great. Peek-A-Bloo is great for giving more of a brown/purple hint, which is a colour range I haven't really tried before, so I'll be trying that out and Cloud 9 is for lightening, which is also pretty handy as some colours seemed a bit dark when I was experimenting with them.

(l-r: Pin Up, Milkshake, Lava, Pinkini, Cloud 9, Peek-A-Bloo)

Right, that's all for this post, I'll be posting about combinations in another post, as otherwise this could get rather lenghty!

Sleek Saturday - 'Good Girl' Palette

For those of you who read Liloo's blog, you'll know that she has a feature called Sleek Saturdays, where she digs out the Sleek palettes that she doesn't use and creates looks with them. She also invites other bloggers to take part, so I took this opportunity to kill two birds with one stone; First of all this would be an incentive to create a look, as I haven't had much inspiration over the last few months and also it would be a chance to use my Sleek Good Girl Palette, which I haven't really used much.

Now in theory, this palette is PERFECT for me. I adore everything pink and always have, yet for some reason, I've never really used it.

I love everything about the colours except for the fact that I have no idea how to make them work with me. I suppose for a really wearable look I could try combining pink with gold? It could look nice, so I'll have to try that at some point. As I didn't really want to cheat, I just stuck to the colours in the palette, getting this for a result...

So keeping with the Sleek theme, I used the Pout Paint in Pinkini (review coming soon!) and as you can see, I now have a fringe. I love it! It's a bit more upkeep, but I feel it suits my face more than before, so I'm willing to sacrifice the little time that I have to spend straightening it.

I think I'm improving slightly with the eye close ups, although they're still not perfect. But then again, practice makes perfect, doesn't it?

So the eyeshadows that I used were Pink Punch, Papaya, Morello and Lychee. The eyeliner I used is Maybelline's Gel Liner in Brown as I don't have a black liquid liner at the moment.

In this picture I think I tried a mix of Pout Paints Pinkini and Milkshake, but wasn't that keen on it so I went with just Pinkini.

I hope you guys like the look although I'm certain it's not my best and there are definitely other ways that I can use pink, which I think I'll try out in the next few days (especially the pink and gold idea, it sounds nice)

And on a final note, I'd like to apologise again for my absence. I've been in England and before that I was working and I had a few days in between working so I used those to just relax and laze around. :)

A giveaway alert

I'm just going to direct you all to a giveaway over at Dani's blog, cause it's quite cool and I honestly wish I had those prizes. But alas, it so happens that I am banned from entering this very giveaway (which, well, is understandable, I suppose).

But yes, those of you who have a penchant for pocket watch necklaces, head on over! (and a cheek tint)

http://polkadani.blogspot.com/2011/08/my-very-first-giveaway.html

This giveaway is open to UK residents only, because I am poor and cannot afford much postage at the moment. Also this reduces the chances of my little sister trying to win. I buy her enough stuff as it is.
Lies. All lies, I tell you.

Ok, I kid.

rebonjour

Hello people, I am back!

I now own my first ever DSLR, a Nikon D3000 (yes I know it's entry level, don't judge me, DSLR snobs!) and now have my first FOTD with pictures taken with it! (:

Ignore the T-Zone please, I am in desperate need of a foundation/ tinted moisturiser! Well, I need a new moisturiser anyway.

I have not mastered the art of taking close up pictures with a DSLR yet, if anyone has any pointers, they would be muchly appreciated!

Anyway, this combination is becoming a frequent look of mine, I have recently discovered (actually when I went to watch Harry Potter and did Gryffindor themed eye makeup) that red goes very well with gold and since then, I've been doing it quite a lot.

So the products I used (aside from the eyeliner, which I forgot to photograph, whoops...) are Half Baked from the Naked palette, the red from Sleek's Sunset palette, Benefit's Boi-ing concealer, MAC's Paint Pot in Painterly, L'Oreal Blush (need to check the name), a Maybelline mascara and Benefit's Posie Tint and Benetint.

S'all for now, hope you guys liked it and remember, tips would be appreciated! :) xxx
