Blogger meet up pictures!

Hey girls!

First off, I'd like to apologise for the lateness of this post, I was out all day Saturday (minus 15 minutes after returning from the film set to scoff down dinner then rush out to the cinema to go see Friends With Benefits with my best friend) and Sunday I was tidying my room (which literally takes a whole day). Today was my first day of school, although only 2 hours of it, and it wasn't bad. :) It's quite funny because I'm in the same class as Steffi and our class is so small, we're only to 15 people, it's so weird when you've been used to 25 odd people for the last few years.

Moving on, here are the pictures from Friday's Blogger meet up. It was great fun and I LOVED meeting all the girls in person although I didn't get the chance to talk to everyone, but hopefully there'll be a next time. :)

So here's a picture of most of us, which was taken right at the end but unfortunately Nora, Jil, and Josephine had left by then. So basically we all met at Vapiano (their food being great combined with me not having a Margherita in ages made the pizza taste HEAVENLY) where we all had dinner and then we went to a bar in town to have a few drinks. It sounds dull compared to some of the blogger meet ups you read about where they all go shopping and everything but it was really fun and the shopping bit may have been tricky as we'd have had to work around everyone's schedules with school and all that.

Kaori posing with her and Elizabete's identical (minus the colour, obvs) bags, so cute!

 Kaori and I
Jenny, Steffi, Mandy and Elizabete. Unfortunately the flash made Elizabete's face too white but it was a lovely picture and the only one I had of them so I wanted to put it up.

Elizabete and I. (And check out the photobomber in the right corner!)

 Kaori, Aline and Jenny.

And finally, a picture of us pulling faces with me doing my signature thumbs up pose ahaha.

As I said earlier, it was lovely seeing the girls in person and hopefully we'll do it again. I have to admit, I was a bit nervous beforehand because I thought I'd be a bit of an outsider cause I can be a bit too shy sometimes but they were all so friendly and sweet and it was a lot of fun. :)

And finally, pictures of my makeup! This was when I came home and my makeup was still pretty intact, which was amazing. I went for a pin up look for my eyes and a mix of the Sleek Pout Paints Pinkini and Lava :)

Saturday 17 September 2011

Hey everyone!
This is a scheduled post as I really wanted to do Sleek Saturday and as I'm busy tomorrow, I decided to do it today!

Again, I'm using the Sunset palette as I felt I didn't use much of it with my last look. So what I did this time was use the two dark reds next to the orange for a red smokey eye.

So for once I left out the eyeliner as I wanted to keep it a bit simple and I used MUA's lipstick in shade 11 as it's the closest to a nude that I have, if not a bit darker than my lip colour.

I'm sorry this post is so short but I'm in a hurry at the moment, so sorry!

another belated fotd

Hiya everyone, here's another short post as I don't want to go to bed at the mo (I am such a rebel innit) and these photos have been hanging around on my computer for long enough.

So you'd be misled in thinking that this is actually a carbon copy of this post and I suppose it's close enough seeing as I used the same palette (Sleek Good Girl) and one of the coral shades, next to the one I used before haha.

I did this when I went to meet two of my friends in town and then later on went to go watch a movie (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, for those interested) at one of their's. I actually think I'm gonna tone down on the eyeliner for school as I'm actually getting bored of it (HOW CAN YOU GET BORED OF EYELINER?!!). I think it's cause I'm not too pleased with the way I do my flick so I think I'll practice that a bit.

Oh and expect lots of pictures of tomorrow and Saturday as tomorrow we're having a blogger's meet up (and not just a regional meet up - a Luxembourg blogger's meet up seeing as the country's so small haha!) and then Saturday I will be being an extra again. I'm super excited for tomorrow as I've always wanted to meet other bloggers and people who share the same interests as me so hopefully it'll be great :)

lazy days

hi lovelies, I'm back again!

I'm so sorry that I took so long in updating, it turns out that I was still recovering from a cold on Saturday so I thought I wouldn't force you girls to see my ugly mug with Sleek Saturday. As a matter of fact, I may not be able to do Sleek Saturday this week as I'm doing another day's filming and it's gonna be quite exhausting, methinks. We have to get up at around 6 as we have to be there at 7.30 and the location is about an hour away from me.

Anyway, this post is about my latest FOTDs as I've not been feeling up to using eyeshadow and eyeliner so I've been skipping on the eye stuff and have sort of created a natural-ish look. I say natural-ish as it isn't a no makeup look and I've been using a bit more blusher than usual (and been trying my hand at contouring, though I think that needs a little work!)

Excuse the hair flying all over the place in the last picture, I honestly have no idea how I didn't notice it at the time.

Clinique High Impact mascara
Collection 2000 Big Fake mascara
L'Oreal Telescopic mascara
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer
Sephora 5 in 1 Colorplay Tango in Buenos Aires palette
Sleek Pout Paint in Milkshake
L'Oreal True Match blush in Rosewood

So at this point I can happily tell you that I have definitely changed my mind about Milkshake and I do love it. I apply it very lightly though as fully opaque looks awful on me and I think this is gonna be an everyday look for me. :)

And here we have my disasterous attempt at watermelon nails. Sloppy is an appropriate description, I'd say.

Wednesday 7 September 2011

Hi there everyone
It may have just been three days since I've posted but whilst I have had the intention on posting, I've not been feeling up to it lately. On Monday, my great uncle, who was more like a third grandfather or another uncle to us, passed away and needless to say, I'm devastated. My feelings are all over the place, I'm going from perfectly happy to really upset in the span of two minutes every now and then and I don't feel capable of writing about makeup at the moment.

Who knows, I may feel better tomorrow, but I will assure you all that if I haven't updated by Saturday, I will then because I really want to write another Sleek Saturday post.

I know I'm absent a lot but I hope you can all understand why I may not be up to blogging at the moment.

life on set!

So ok, not literally life on set, but I thought I'd give you girls an insight to what it's like being an extra in a film.
For those who may not know, extras are those random people who are always in the background in movies. I've been doing extra work since 2005 and whilst it may be tedious, it's mostly fun and a great experience.

On Wednesday, I was an extra of this small luxembourgish production. They only needed 15 extras and we were asked to bring along cameras as they needed people to be taking pictures (although when they say this, it means pretending you're taking pictures because they need everyone to be silent so they can pick up what the actors are saying. Same goes for if you have to 'talk' - you have to pretend to talk and then afterwards, they'll do a recording where you talk and then add that in post production.)

They also wanted us to be fashionable and edgy (although being luxembourg, I'm not sure they really understood the concept of fashionable and edgy...I brought along a few outfits that in my eyes, were quite trendy, but they didn't want them as they couldn't use patterns.)

So here we have my outfit. I was quite surprised that the costume lady picked this as usually, the production steer clear from bright clothes as they could interfere with the filming and stand out too much (another big nono is to wear a lot of white, I think, but that's only in certain films, so I'm not too sure about that).

And as for makeup, they weren't doing makeup for extras as it's a small budget movie, and as I suspected this, I brought my own makeup along. I kept it simple though, with black liquid eyeliner and my sleek pout paint in Pinkini.

Now I'm gonna just post pictures chronologically and sorta explain how a day like this goes.

This is us (from l-r: my sister, her boyfriend, my friend Jasmine and my brother and then in the front, my other friend Sandra) putting our bags in the car after having put on our 'costumes'.

And then...we waited. Hanging around doing nothing is something you do quite often as an extra as you need to wait until the crew actually need you (they will give you a set time as to when they'll be needing you in the scene but ast his is the film industry, things can go wrong, so filming can take longer than planned. Sometimes you'll be hanging around the set long after the time you were supposed to go home or you could be finished earlier)

Turns out we waited so long that it was time for lunch before we actually got to any filming. Lunch on film sets is nothing to get excited about. It's usually something like pasta and at that, nothing special. Of course, if you belong to the crew or if you're an actor, you may get better food but I wouldn't know, having only ever been an extra.

BAck to the film set after lunch! Here I took a sneaky picture of the camera as everything was being set up. Quite big, isn't it? If you're lucky to be behind the camera (or not so lucky, depending on how you see it) you can actually look on the little screen they have to see what it looks like being filmed.

Here's a picture of my sister's boyfriend waiting around in his first position (a very often used phrase in the industry is 'First positions, please!' as some extras are either motionless or they have to walk across somewhere) and of the crew setting up the reflectors, I think. That guy on the left has been on loads of films that I've been in, after a while you start to recognise him. I don't think I've spoken much with him but one of the films I did last summer was an all nighter and whenever I yawned or something, he'd smile at me in understanding and as crew members can often be quite rude to the extras (who happen to be the lowest ranking in the film industry - even lower than runners. It's another story so maybe I'll write a post about how extras are treated based on my experiences) it's nice to meet someone nice every once in a while.

Now this lady here is apparantly quite the famous actress in Luxembourg. I can't tell you who she is as I have no idea, I only heard it through another one of the extras (who couldn't remember her name). Her role in the movie is some opera singer who was having a concert at this hotel. She's sitting there signing autographs and trying to give them to the people taking pictures of her (I was one of them) but most of them just walk off and I'm the last one to get it and just look at it and chuck it on the table. Basically, we were people who just wanted to take pictures of someone famous for the sake of it.

During one of our breaks where we got to hang out in the hotel bar. My sister and her boyfriend showing their props - people at the chess event (that is part of the movie's plot) that's taking part at the same place, obviously vips with the badges.

This is one of my friend's props (I didn't get one as I had a DSLR with me) - an old SLR camera that didn't work, unfortunately, but it was fun to mess around with.

Me posing with said camera during our break.

The crew setting up for the next scene. The lady in the yellow vest is standing behind the actress and I'm not entirely sure what her job is, just that she has to say 'Silence, please!' when they're filming and if people are being noisy.

And another photo of everything being set up. The people dressed as army people are actors although I'm not entirely sure what their role is. At one point they have to stomp up to their rooms. Behind the actress from before is a costume lady, who I've met on other movies and in front of her is the guy filming the making of.

Finally, a shot of my sis (posing :P) and her boyfriend at their first position in this scene and in front of them, the making of guy, who in my opinion, was quite good looking ;)

So that's all for today! If anyone has any questions about being on a film set, feel free to ask and if you want a follow up post on something specific, please let me know!

Sleek Saturday - Sunset Palette

Another Sleek Saturday post, although this one is a bit too late to be feautured on Liloo's blog due to my very badly organised self. I'll post it anyway as this is the last week of the Sleek Saturdays, which is such a shame, but oh well, it had to end at some point!

This week I'm using the sunset palette, which I do use frequently - my only problem is I just use the gold and the light red next to it. Not really getting much use, is it?

This palette has everything I need. Golds? Check. Copper? Check. Orange? Check. Reds? Check. And then some other shades that aren't used very often...

BUT I just don't use it very much so I decided to go for a bit more of an adventurous look today.

For this look, I kept everything else relatively simple - I tried a coloured lip but it just looked like too much.

As for the shades, I used the orange, the yellow and the champagne underneath the yellow. I did try to add the black in the crease, but it just looked awful so I abandoned that.

Please forgive the unruly brows, I'm trying to grow them out, ESPECIALLY the right one!

Anyway, I hope you all liked this post, as hurried and late it is. I'm off to watch X Factor now, it's so funny with the new judges!

And incidentally, I was reading Star magazine (I know, I read trashy mags) and they had an article about how gutted Cheryl was after seeing Tulisa being so popular. Well....you DID refuse to take the job, didn't you? I think the judging panel is miles better this year, they seem to get along without being fake and they're just all so funny (except Louis. He's fading into the background every time I watch it)
