Guest post: Make Up Your Own Confidence

Hi everyone! A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Jackie Clark via email asking if I would be interested in having her write a guest post. Naturally, I was especially as it concerns women diagnosed with cancer, which is a subject close to my heart, as my sister dani had cancer, as those of you who read her blog will know. Anyway moving on, I hope you all enjoy Jackie's post, I know I did!

Make Up Your Own Confidence
By: Jackie Clark

Beauty is something everyone notices, even if they think they do not; it is everywhere, from flowers blooming in the garden to the setting sun. Women, in particular, are very in tune with their own beauty whether it is their inner or outer beauty. For women, beauty and fashion are the ultimate way to make herself feel good, especially on a day when it seems everything else is going wrong. Such as the day a woman is diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, known as mesothelioma. The knowledge that her future is now going to revolve around doctors and treatments for cancer makes a woman feel powerless and as if though her confidence has diminished completely.

When it comes to dealing with cancer and the treatments that go with it, it is important for women to feel as confident and good as they can; a better mood means an improved immune system, which means a better quality of life, which helps with the way a woman responds to her treatment. Fashion is a mysterious solution to a woman’s confidence issues; whether it is because a gorgeous new pair of shoes make her feel like a queen or a dress that fits just right makes her feel like a movie star. Whatever it is about fashion that makes women feel so confident and sexy is inescapable; and it is imperative women find this happiness within when dealing with cancer.

Make up helps women feel more beautiful as well. One tip that make up experts use on models and other celebrities makes their eyes look brighter and more alive, which is always something a cancer patient could use. All that is required is a shade of shimmery white eye shadow. With the pad of their ring finger, women should apply the shimmery white powder to the corners of the eyes and along the brow bone. The white, shimmery color of the eye shadow brightens the natural color of a woman’s eye and makes the whites of her eyes appear brighter and more alive than they are.

Another make up tip that can make a woman feel more confident and gorgeous is red lipstick. This bold look is not just for old world Hollywood movie stars, it is for everyone that has lips. A bright red shade in a matte finish worn on a face with minimal makeup can take a little black dress from gorgeous to fabulous in an instant and make a pair of jeans and a blazer look amazing.

The trick to looking confident and gorgeous is to pick a look and learn how to rock it. Anyone can do it and everyone that tries and does it right will look amazing and fashion forward.

  1. Another tip for those who may have lost their hair (whether through chemo or through alopecia and so on): when I lost mine, I turned my attention to eyeliner and mascara. These really make your eyes the main feature and the short hair only emphasises them and makes them appear bigger no matter what size or colour they are. Try 50s or 60s style flicks and smoky eyes if you can, these are simple to master after a bit of practice and really help your eyes stand out!
