One Day fotd

Hiya everyone!

Today, my best friend and I went to the cinema to go see One Day. I loved the movie, but a word of advice :if you someone who very easily cries at movies, be prepared for this. I was still sniffing when the credits rolled! I just have too many feelings, I reckon.

Anyway, true to my promise in my Sleek Saturday post, I decided to try pink and gold out together.

I was getting quite hacked off at how you can't actually see my eye makeup when I'm looking at the camera! It made all the normal shots look bad and got me quite annoyed; I think I need to experiment a bit more with my eye makeup technique!

See?! You can only see my eye makeup when I'm looking down. Anyway, on to the actual products. For my eyemakeup, I used Pink Punch from the Sleek Good Girl Palette and my trusty gold, Half Baked by Urban Decay. For eyeliner, I didn't go with Maybelline (for once!) and instead used Shadowline by Frontcover and the black from the Sleek Sunset palette. As for Mascara, I used a sample of the new Clarins mascara that you get redeemed by showing this card you get in September's Glamour (if that's not a reason to get it, you also get a free makeover!) and Clinique High Impact.

My face routine is the same as usual with Benefit Boo-ing concealer and the Collection 2000 one. My blush is L'Oreal True Match in Rosewood, I think. And I used Sleek Pout Paints in Milkshake and Pinkini for my lips.

I love this combination and will be using it more often, perhaps with other shades from the Good Girl palette. I'm really glad I did Sleek Saturday because it's helped me use my Good Girl palette more instead of leaving it abandoned. Now to do the same with the rest of my palettes!

What do you girls think of this look? And does anyone else have that problem with typical fotd poses not showing your eye makeup? xx

rebonjour

Hello people, I am back!

I now own my first ever DSLR, a Nikon D3000 (yes I know it's entry level, don't judge me, DSLR snobs!) and now have my first FOTD with pictures taken with it! (:

Ignore the T-Zone please, I am in desperate need of a foundation/ tinted moisturiser! Well, I need a new moisturiser anyway.

I have not mastered the art of taking close up pictures with a DSLR yet, if anyone has any pointers, they would be muchly appreciated!

Anyway, this combination is becoming a frequent look of mine, I have recently discovered (actually when I went to watch Harry Potter and did Gryffindor themed eye makeup) that red goes very well with gold and since then, I've been doing it quite a lot.

So the products I used (aside from the eyeliner, which I forgot to photograph, whoops...) are Half Baked from the Naked palette, the red from Sleek's Sunset palette, Benefit's Boi-ing concealer, MAC's Paint Pot in Painterly, L'Oreal Blush (need to check the name), a Maybelline mascara and Benefit's Posie Tint and Benetint.

S'all for now, hope you guys liked it and remember, tips would be appreciated! :) xxx

spring is in full swing!

hello lovelies! I've finally managed to update, which I shall hopefully be doing more often now that my play and my piano exams are over! For those curious, the play went incredibly well and I loved every minute of it, I definitely feel the stage is for me. The exam, which I was afraid I would fail, was yesterday and went quite well surprisingly. I didn't pass with distinction or anything, but I wasn't expecting that so I'm pleased.

Now on to the makeup aspect of this post (yes! makeup again!), I am going out to dinner with my family and as it's been especially lovely weather this weekend, I decide to bring my golds and pinks out. I love that combination, it can be quite subtle, yet still beautiful and the pink just adds a bit of extra 'oomph'. In fact, my dream would be to own a blush a la NARS Orgasm (still too expensive though) or anything along the lines of pink and gold.

I may have been a bit heavy handed with the blush for two reasons :a) so that you can see it on the photographs and b) in theatre, I had to heap so much blush on so that my face wouldn't look pale on the stage and every time I thought it'd be way too much, the theatre director would say 'No, you need more' or 'You could still go darker, you know'. In all stage makeup is definitely interesting and if I ever do study makeup, I'd definitely be interested in that. After the second night, I went out for a drink with a few classmates and felt a bit clownlike but apparantly I looked quite normal!

I used my Too Faced Natural Eye palette for this look and I'm in a bit of a rush, but I'll post the exact products at a later point for those interested!

I have to dash now but I'll leave you with some odd outtakes!

I look either like a chipmunk or just completely zoned out haha!

Cinema FOTD

Hello everyone!
I'm going to the cinema later on with Martine and as it's officially Spring now, thought I would bypass the nude eyeshadows and go for a little colour, namely the pastel blue and teal from my Strictly palette.

I did have to toy around with these photos in photoshop and use selective colouring as they looked far too yellow when I took them, probably due to my white balance. Anyway, I'm quite pleased with this look and the products that I used are:

 Strictly Fabulous Palette :Ballroom Palette
Maybelline Define-A-Line Liquid Eyeliner
Maybelline Colossal Volume Mascara
Clinique High Impact Mascara

L'Oreal Blush (not sure which one, will check later!)
Garnier Tinted Eye Roll On
Sephora Concealer

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lip Tint in In The Buff

silly pose face, I had to include it!

Oh and the GORGEOUS flower in my hair is Crown & Glory, the Mellow Yellow bobby pin from the Pic n Mix set!

My NYE's FOTD

Erm, a bit belated much? I know that but as I shan't be posting this Saturday (most likely I won't be) as I shall be going on a day trip to Paris with my family where we will meet up with my uncle who I haven't seen in a few years, so that will be nice!

Anyway, for NYE's I felt like dressing up a little bit, despite not really going out.

So for my eyes, I basically did some shimmery/nude eyeshadows, most likely from the Urban Decay Book of Shadows II and then for my lips, I used L'Oreal's Glam Shine Lipstick Cream, the one that smells SO GOOD!
Excuse the shoddy application, by the way. My lip brush often gets misplaced for a few days at a time.

So here you can see my polka dot dress, which I tried to take a picture of but they didn't end up any good. It's from H&M and I'm not sure whether they're still selling it, but if they are and you like polka dots, you should get it as it's gorgeous! And also, they don't sell it in Luxembourg so teehee, no people running around with the same dress.
The necklace, on the other hand, is also by H&M and HAS been seen on someone else during school. Oh well, you can't have everything exclusively yours!

At least I know no one will have this gorgeous necklace (which I blogged about on Friday)

It's a clearer picture of my essbeevee necklace. Isn't it cute?

Anyway this post is scheduled for Tuesday at 12:00 so at that time, I shall be at school. Fun(!)

Makeup Magpie #1 : L'Oreal Glam Shine Lipstick in Sexy Plum

As a little explanation to the title, today I noticed that I have a tendency to...borrow makeup off various family members and usually keep it (after checking they don't mind, of course!). So I've decided to make a little series where I review all these items that I didn't actually buy myself. Here we have the first in the series, a L'Oreal lipstick I found whilst rooting around in the bathroom cupboard a couple of weeks ago.

Here we have L'Oreal's Glam Shine Cream lipstick in 205 Sexy Plum.

The colour of this is plum (well, duh) with gold sparkles. It looks dark on the bullet but on the lips, it's quite sheer but easily buildable.

And now, for my favourite thing about this lipstick...its smell. It smells absolutely fantastic, I think it's probably plummy, but I don't really eat plums so I wouldn't really know (more of a tangerine girl!). Anyway it's fruity and reminds me of the christmas market here and smells so good it could make you want to eat it,but I wouldn't, because that is a waste of lipstick, nor is it healthy (seriously, I think I should be renamed Captain Obvious!)

Now for the swatch. On the left you have the lipstick swiped once and then on the right, you have it with several layers, so as you can see, easily buildable. I like this about the lipstick that you can either have it very subtle with one layer or if you build it up, a nice deep colour. Although in terms of the colour on my arm and lips, I'd say it looks more cherry than plum.

In the following picture, I've built it up a bit and as you can see, it is a tad darker than on my arm. Also another thing that I'm really happy about in this picture is that I managed to (painfully)wax my upper lip and I feel much more confident about the way I look now!

Hope you all liked it and tell me what you think of the magpie idea :) Now I probably won't update tomorrow (watch my video to find out;)) but will try to do so on Monday, most likely I will as I might be babysitting so I'll have time to waste. And after that, Tuesday I'll be busy packing for my trip to England until Saturday so I might be MIA till Sunday.

Beret FOTD

So yesterday I finally escaped my house (being stuck at home due to a combination of depressing weather and far too much homework) and my best friend and I went to our local *cough thirty minutes by bus far away* shopping center to go shopping.

We left at ten past 5 and it was already getting dark and by the time we got there, it was dark which was definitely weird to me, yet sort of made it more fun as I just LOVE shopping at night time (ok, this time evening. But when I was visiting my grandparents i nengland in April, we went shopping in Tesco's at 10 pm. IT WAS SO COOL!:P ok...geek naty is leaving now)

So on to makeup, I decided to use my sistah as inspiration and did my usual liner but with gold eyeshadow to spruce it up :) Of course, when I say gold eyeshadow, I mean Urban Decay's Half-Baked as that is the best gold eyeshadow I have.

Eyes:
-Urban Decay Primer Potion (original)
-Urban Decay Half Baked
-Sleek Gel Liner
-Rimmel Glam Eyes Lash Flirt mascara
-Maybelline Collossal Volume mascara
-Benefit Brow Zings in Medium
-Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Brown Black

Face:
-L'Oreal True Match Minerals in Golden Ivory
-Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent
-N.Y.C. Colour Wheel in Mocha Glow
-MeMeMe Poppy Tint

Lips:
-MUA Lipstick in shade 11

Wow, for once I remembered every product that I used yesterday! It's not often that I write a list of what I used but if you prefer it, let me know in the comments :) I'd also like to add that I ADORE the small of the MUA lipstick, it just smells lovely and it's so creamy!

I also used this excursion as an opportunity to wear my new red beret from H*M which I LOVE as well. I really hope I can hang on to this hat as the last two hats that I've had have both been carelessly left on the bus/school and therefore, have vanished :(

It was relatively simple, without proper blending and stuff, but I felt it didn't need anything extra :)

xxxxxxx BTW enter my giveaway ;) *shameless plug*
