mini haul

Hi everyone!

Again it has been quite a while since I've blogged, but instead of a super long post, I'm using iphone pictures as I haven't used my camera very much lately.

I have a few FOTDs for you all, one using stuff that I bought when I went to Saarbrucken the other week and others just whenever I did something special with my makeup, which has become more and more rare as I've slipped into my school routine but I intend on changing that!

I still had my fringe then but by now it's grown out and I'm not sure if I should get it trimmed. It would be lovely if my nice readers could help me decide...*puppy eyes*

 

So here we have my mini haul. Well I say mini haul, actually I spent waayyy too much in Primark (I have no winter clothes) but at least I didn't spend much on makeup! Catrice is super cheap and the quality is quite good so I'm very pleased with my haul. The lip tint is very opaque, which is excellent, although it wears off after a few hours but for the price it was, I'm very content. The gel eyeliner is very nice too, I'm just concerned it'll dry out quickly (only time can tell), but application is very easy and it does last all day.

This is the "Oh My Goldness" nail polish with polka dots added on with a random unbranded nail air pen. It's quite a peculiar varnish cause at first you think the first coat isn't opaque enough so you apply a second and turns out that's too much. Well, that's probably because I'm very heavy-handed so that didn't work out very well for me. I need to acquire patience when doing my nails :P .

And this is an early morning FOTD using the above products. The lighting's not fantastic but you can see that the liner is dark (and not grey, I hate those liners that are very wishy washy), but unfortunately you can't see the lip tint very well. I would take a picture today but I'm having a bad skin day urgh...

 

And last but not least, my new jeggings and boots! I love these boots, they cost 30 euros and are from a German shop called Jumix (I think) and they were much nicer than what Primark had to offer so I'm glad I didn't just settle and buy some from Primark, because afterwards I got lucky!

today's face

Hi everyone!

Lately, I've been experimenting more with my makeup, trying different looks every day as on Monday, I'm starting my second (and hopefully more pleasant) summer job as a cashier in the sort of local supermarket (actually there are two closer to me...) and I've always noticed how most of the ladies working at the tills put a lot of effort into their looks and experiment with their makeup. I would say they look quite put together, but unfortunately I have seen a few cases of bright blue eyeshadow, so that's not always the case. :P

So anyway, as opposed to showing up looking like the living dead  - trust me, I looked horrendous when I was emptying out bins last week... - I'd like to look nice so I've been seeing what kind of makeup I should go for, as I have been quite lazy these past few months.

The other week, I went to an outlet centre in Belgium and in the Body Shop there, everything was super cheap so I splurged a bit. Unfortunately, I just deleted the pictures as I thought I had them on my laptop, but turns out I don't so you'll have to bear with me until I post about what I bought, as I've managed to lose the cheek tint, which is really annoying me at the moment.

Back to what I was originally harping on about, today I decided to (for once) photograph my makeup step by step AND take pictures of the products I'm using, which I usually forget to do. (The above paragraph is revelant because I bought a face powder which I'm very happy with and which will feature in this post.)

First of all, it's recently been brought to my attention that you should use a powder puff to apply powder instead of a brush! Steph @ In Her Makeup Bag  posted about this after having seen a video by gossmakeupartist and after reading and watching the video, I tried it out with a powder puff (well actually I think it was a sponge, but it's the same principle, I think) and the difference really is noticeable. With a brush, the coverage was acceptable, but it's a lot better with a puff, which is great for me as I really don't like the feeling of foundation so I'm starting to rely on powder. In this picture, I've applied powder to the right side of my face and it really makes a great difference, in my opinion.

So here is my face with my base on - basically primer, concealer(s) and powder.

  

 

The products that I used were the Benefit primer that I got for free in Glamour magazine, which I'm not convinced about. It feels nice but I don't get the feeling it really helped. Otherwise I have the Boi-ing concealer, which I love but don't use often as I haven't got much of it left and that stuff is expensive! Otherwise I have the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat which was a present for my birthday from my best friend. I basically use this underneath my eyes and eyebrows (for highlighting) and the Benefit one for blemishes. Finally I have the Body Shop Nature's Minerals powder, which was a bargain at 3 euros! ( I love outlet centres.)

And now for my eye makeup! I decided to repeat a look I did last December by using cream eyeshadows and a red eyeliner underneath my eyes, despite it not being very summery. Of course, I didn't want to look as if I'd been crying so I used a brown eyeliner on my waterline and was generous with the mascara on my bottom lashes, which I do anyway as my top lashes just flop down with any amount of mascara.

 

So for products, I started off with MAC's Paint Pot in Painterly which is my most used primer. It lasts really long as I've been using it regularly since last summer, so I'm quite impressed with it! Otherwise I used Fred Farrugia's mousse/cream eye shadow, which I just applied with my fingers as the end result is better than using a brush, although I still haven't found a way of applying cream eyeshadow and having it last, which is frustrating. Any tips?

Otherwise I used Sleek's Kohl pencil, which is dark red and was part of their christmas set and then an Urban Decay brown eyeliner and finally, my eyelash curlers and Benefit's Bad Gal mascara, which was also free with Glamour a few months ago.

And for the final touches, I just added a cheek tint, bronzer and a lip stain.

 I used Benefit's Hoola bronzer and Posie tint, which are part of the Cabana palette that I got for my birthday and then I used a Maybelline lip tint.

And that's it for today! Unfortunately the look didn't last very long because I sweat for some reason and even if I'm not doing anything and I've got the fan on, I still got flustered and my face gets sweaty so the makeup rubs off, which was upsetting me a bit as I'd really like to have normal skin for once. I don't have excessively oily skin, but I do sweat a lot which is unpleasant and unattractive, even if it doesn't happen all the time - only really as soon as I apply my makeup, which is frustrating.

Anyway I will try and post more regularly with my work makeup from next week onwards, stay tuned¨! 

FOTW (basically multiple faces of the week)

Hi everyone!!
As I've had rehearsals this week (every day from Tuesday till Friday..didn't get much of a break after India, did I?) and I've missed making myself up so much, I've been doing something different for makeup each day as I thought I'd start getting myself back into practice for next week (I'll be doing multiple costume and makeup changes for our play(s)).

So this was Wednesday and I FINALLY used my Naked palette again. Lately I've just been doing eyeliner and mascara as I couldn't be bothered to use eyeshadow in the mornings. Anyway my skin is kinda blemish-y but I don't want to use any foundation or a lot of concealer as next week, I'll be using quite a lot to not look too pale on stage.

Thursday: This was kind of one of those lazy days as I just used a brown Barry M eyeliner (not even LIQUID, which is unheard of for me!) and the usual blush and liptint. After India, I've realised the one makeup product I can't live without is blush. I desperately need some colour in my face above anything else!

Friday: I look quite asleep at this point, I guess I hadn't fully woken up yet haha. My hair looks nice, not too thick, as it was still half wet. Despite the 10 degrees celsius weather, I still haven't got out of the habit of going outside with wet hair, which I did the whole time in India cause it was easier and it'd dry really quickly anyway. I used the Naked palette again and my Maybelline gel liner, despite it being all dry now.

My best friend and I were bored this afternoon so we decided to make ourselves up just for shits and giggles (my new favourite expression!). I did mine and she did hers and then we goofed around taking loads of silly pictures (none of which I'll subject you lot to;)!) I've just noticed how pale I look compared to her...downside of being besties with an Italian, I guess ;) 

Small haul! + FOTD

I went shopping today with my best friend as I wanted to check out this shop I've heard a lot about called HEMA. First of all, a friend told me a while ago that their makeup brushes were amazing but I never went to the shop. Then I saw these brushes on Jenny's blog and enquired as to where she got them - HEMA being the answer.

And so I went along today and found lots of brushes that looked really good...dirt cheap!

 

The eyeliner cost 4,50 € as did the grey brush, I think and the other two cost 2,95€ each! Amazing prices, especially in Luxembourg (UKers may not bat an eyelid seeing as they have amazingly cheap stuff like Primark but for Luxland this is incredibly cheap)

I haven't tried them yet but look forward to!

So as for the FOTD, I've been trying out my Fred Farrugia cream eyeshadow...still not sure and I have used my Sleek berry collection kohl pencil, which I LOVE even if it might make me look tired, I love the way the red contrasts with my blue eyes :)

Saturday night FOTN

Why hello there everyone, hasn't it been a long time?
I really need to apologise about that as I've been absolutely swamped with being sick/having school commitments/going out these past few weeks. Add to that that I have recently acquired an iPod Touch, well, I don't go on my computer often then, do it?

Last night, I went out with two good friends to a club that had a gow paint party, which was awesome! I would recommend not getting it in your hair/on your scalp as it really is a pain to get out (had to shampoo my hair twice and it still felt dry).

I have got some FOTN pictures for you all as I decided to go for a -gasp- smokey eye! I know, me, the girl who usually stays well away from them, decided to give it a go (:

 I'm sorry, I've only just realised I have the same gormless expression on each picture. Awkward much?!

Anyway, I am in LOVE with the eyeshadow I used. This eyeshadow being MUA shade 12, the well know MAC Club dupe and I adore it, if it's a dupe or not. The duochrome makes it look flashy enough to wear on its own, although I did use a black eyeliner base on my eyelids to make it pop more.

I'm actually also quite pleased with my eyeliner flick! I used Sephora's liquid eyeliner, which I got for 5€ and to begin with, hated it as I got it EVERYWHERE, but I did the pencil trick to balance the flick and I think it ended up quite well :)

I've been involved with this exchange project with Indian youths and they were over in Luxembourg and one of them did beautiful henna for a few people and this is my one! Unfortunately, it's faded now and is nearly gone...):

Various FOTDs!

Hello! As promised, here's the post with various FOTDs from the past weeks. Now I must admit, I've been a bit lazy for school - usually mascara, concealer, blush is all I've been doing lately. Amazing, me, the supposed makeup addict?!

 Here is a such a photo from late afternoon when I'm wearing my comfort cardie and my makeup seems to have mostly vanished (and my hair's gone and done its own thing too)

And here's my usual face although with a bit more blusher and with Sleek Pout Paint in Milkshake.

 

Now you may notice a difference here and that is that I straightened my hair. It's not poker straight as it was straightened two days ago and this is it just starting to curl a bit. I quite like it like this, I think I'll do it more often.Anyway, I kept my face a tad minimal cause I went for the bright orange lips (Sleek Pout Paint in Lava). I do like this look, I think I'll be rocking orange lips a bit more often in the future.

Blogger meet up pictures!

Hey girls!

First off, I'd like to apologise for the lateness of this post, I was out all day Saturday (minus 15 minutes after returning from the film set to scoff down dinner then rush out to the cinema to go see Friends With Benefits with my best friend) and Sunday I was tidying my room (which literally takes a whole day). Today was my first day of school, although only 2 hours of it, and it wasn't bad. :) It's quite funny because I'm in the same class as Steffi and our class is so small, we're only to 15 people, it's so weird when you've been used to 25 odd people for the last few years.

Moving on, here are the pictures from Friday's Blogger meet up. It was great fun and I LOVED meeting all the girls in person although I didn't get the chance to talk to everyone, but hopefully there'll be a next time. :)

So here's a picture of most of us, which was taken right at the end but unfortunately Nora, Jil, and Josephine had left by then. So basically we all met at Vapiano (their food being great combined with me not having a Margherita in ages made the pizza taste HEAVENLY) where we all had dinner and then we went to a bar in town to have a few drinks. It sounds dull compared to some of the blogger meet ups you read about where they all go shopping and everything but it was really fun and the shopping bit may have been tricky as we'd have had to work around everyone's schedules with school and all that.

As I said earlier, it was lovely seeing the girls in person and hopefully we'll do it again. I have to admit, I was a bit nervous beforehand because I thought I'd be a bit of an outsider cause I can be a bit too shy sometimes but they were all so friendly and sweet and it was a lot of fun. :) 

And finally, pictures of my makeup! This was when I came home and my makeup was still pretty intact, which was amazing. I went for a pin up look for my eyes and a mix of the Sleek Pout Paints Pinkini and Lava :)
